MJP's performance nutritionists provide safe, effective, evidence-based nutrition services for health, fitness and athletic performance. A good nutrition program is the secret ingredient in athletic performance. Proper eating habits and nutrition are essential for quality performance and recovery. The MJP nutrition program can teach an athlete to develop healthy habits by instructing on the proper foods to consume at the appropriate times and in the proper quantities. Optimal meal planning will support an athlete's training and reduce fatigue.

About Krista

Krista Austin is a distinguished physiologist and nutritionist whose breadth of knowledge and experience allows her to cater to the individual in achieving their health and fitness goals. Austin has worked for the United States Olympic Committee, the English Institute of Sport and England's Cricket team. She currently consults for several national governing bodies of sport including USA Triathlon and USA Taekwondo and also works with multiple top tier track and field athletes. Her range of expertise includes endurance coaching for distance runners and triathletes of all levels, and providing performance nutrition to multiple populations from elite athletes to diabetics. Austin's clients have included elite distance runners such as 2009 NYC Marathon champion, Meb Keflezighi, Meseret Defar, Kara Goucher, Amy Yoder-Begley and Dathan Ritzenhein, as well as, top tier triathletes such as Lesley Patterson, Matt Chrabot, and Laura Bennett. In the arena of combative sports, she is most well known for her work with the First Family of Taekwondo, Steven, Mark and Diana Lopez, as all three siblings brought home Olympic Medals in 2008.

Recently, Austin authored the book, "Performance Nutrition: Applying the Science of Nutrient Timing," which approached nutrition from a performance perspective through the intentional use of food to optimize an aspect of human physiology. She frequently contributes to online media such as LAVA Magazine, and is regularly interviewed for training and nutritional advice by Sports Illustrated, Running Times, Runner's World, Competitor, Inside Triathlon and Triathlete Magazine. As a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and National Strength & Conditioning Association, Austin regularly writes for accredited industry publications and serves as a referee for multiple scientific journals. Working as an associate editor, Austin contributed to the International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism.

Austin received her Bachelor of Art degree in Physical Education, Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology, and Ph.D in Exercise Physiology & Sport Nutrition. Additionally, Austin is a certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
